Arkansas Rural Sourcing works hard to maintain involvement with different programs around the area. We are proud to be a
sponsor for the Girls of Promise program and for technology camps in Jonesboro. These programs help area youths gain a
solid foundation with technology they will almost certainly encounter in the future.

On April 17, 2004, Arkansas State University’s Convocation Center was the venue for the first regional Girls of Promise.
This conference was the Women’s Foundation of Arkansas’ first attempt at expanding the level of participation in the
conference experience by holding the event outside the Little Rock area. Made possible through a grant from the
Horizon Institute of Technology, the conference was a resounding success. Forty-three girls attended the event, accompanied
by thirteen teachers. Schools represented were Harrisburg, Farmington, Hoxie, Bald Knob, Fountain Lake/Hot Springs, Augusta,
White County Central/Judsonia, Brookland, Black Rock, Blytheville, Lonoke, and Armorel. The program for the day was designed
to offer the girls information and exposure to a range of career fields in the area of math, science, and technology.
Speakers represented accounting, medicine, nursing, veterinary medicine, physics/chemistry, wildlife biology, pathology,
and entomology. College students from ASU provided participants with insight about the college experience, and the keynote
speaker, Dr. Kathy Brittain White, gave the participants an outstanding motivational talk.
